One Day Seminar on 

“Gender Development & Laws Related to Women”

Under the aegis of SETU (Sustaining Equality Through Universities/Colleges)

Government Science College, Vankal organized a one-day seminar on "Gender Development & Laws Related to Women" under the aegis of SETU (Sustaining Equality Through Universities/Colleges) programme. The SETU programme, developed by the Gender Resource Center under the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Gujarat, in collaboration with the Commissionerate of Higher Education, aims to address various gender-related issues and promote gender equality in the state. Dr. H. P. Vankar, Assistant Professor and Head of the Physics Department, serving as the Nodal Officer of the SETU program, coordinated the seminar focusing upon the issue of ‘fostering gender equality and empowering women’ within the broader scope of developmental efforts. The seminar endeavored to educate young girls about their legal rights and available resources, helping them to advocate for their rights within the legal framework. The overarching objective was to cultivate an inclusive environment where both men and women can equally engage and reap the benefits of available opportunities and resources. As part of this programme, all the Heads and faculties from various departments were invited. Dr. Harshita Jain, the National Head of Smart Girl, BJS, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Joining her were Mrs. Sumitra Vasava, Assistant Public Prosecutor at the Additional Chief Court in Mangrol, Surat, and Miss Priyanka Chaudhari, Assistant Professor of Mathematics in Dediyapada and Mrs. Rupali Nilakhe. Additionally, Mrs. Viraj Chaudhari, an Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology and chairperson of the Women Development Cell, GSC, Vankal lent her presence to the event. Dr. Parthiv K. Chaudhari, the Principal of the College, addressed the attendees as the patron, emphasizing the significance of gender equality. The guest speakers and the nodal officer Dr. H. P. Vankar delivered their talks on the theme of the event engaging the audience with a PowerPoint presentation. The seminar witnessed active involvement from 180 attendees including students, faculty members, and resource persons. Participants shared their perspectives and feedback on the seminar's content.
